Council and Committee Meetings in Brussels, Belgium

Audience: All

Recent developments regarding the coronavirus COVID-19 situation have generated a lot of inquiries from many members, who reached out asking how plans for our upcoming event in Brussels are affected. The IAA leadership is paying close attention to this situation and as of today, we are going ahead with the IAA Council and Committee meetings in Brussels as planned. Similarly, we are in close communication with the organizers of the Paris Colloquium, which takes place immediately after Brussels. We will continue to keep you informed of the situation in the upcoming weeks.

In the meantime, we recommend that if you have not already confirmed your travel arrangements, to carefully consider purchasing tickets with refund/credit back options in the case we would ever need to go down that path. As mentioned, we are not planning for this at this point, we simply want to be prudent where possible.

6th African Actuarial Congress in Accra, Ghana

Audience: All

The 6th African Actuarial Congress (6AAC) is moving forward full speed and the Actuarial Society of Ghana is looking forward to welcome you all!

To protect citizens and individual visiting Ghana, the Government of Ghana (GoG) has put in place some measures which are also augmented by understated efforts of the Local Organizing Committee of the 6AAC.

·       Airport Screening: All individuals arriving at the Kotoka International Airport, Accra will undergo the “Enhanced Passenger Screening” for COVID-19. Checking out of the airport may therefore take a little longer than expected.

·       Country Entry Restriction: Individuals who have visited China, South Korea, Japan and Italy over the past 3 months may not be allowed entry or in special cases undergo a much stricter and long screening process before permitted into the country.

·       Venue Preparations:

       1.     The 6AAC will take-off with a 15 minutes presentation on best practices against COVID-19 in large gatherings.

     2.     There will be enough sanitizers (rubbing alcohol) in all meeting rooms and delegates must be sure to apply them after making contact with other delegates.

      3.     While close contacts may be inevitable, please note that “Politeness Can Be Tricky” as COVID-19 is transmitted via touching and close contact.

Currently only 2 cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in Africa, Egypt and Algeria respectively. Ghana is COVID-19 FREE and we are monitoring closely the information released by the health authorities of the country.

Please contact congress@asg.org.gh for any other enquiry or comment on this subject.

We are looking forward to welcoming you to Ghana!

Mark Larbi Henaku
IAA 6AAC Project Manager
