인공지능(AI)에 관한 IAA 회담 Audience: All
2024년 4월 4일~5일 인공지능(AI)은 대중의 관심이 높아지고 있는 중요한 글로벌 주제입니다. IAA 집행위원회는 2023년 12월 AI 활동에 대한 의향서를 승인하여 보험계리 분야에서 AI의 책임 있는 사용을 확립하고 촉진하기 위한 이니셔티브를 시작했습니다. 첫 번째 단계로 IAA는 보험계리사, 잠재적인 규제 기관 및 AI 전문가를 한자리에 모으기 위해 2024년 4월 4일과 5일 싱가포르에서 이 서밋을 개최할 예정입니다. 서밋의 주요 목표는 지식과 경험의 공유를 촉진하고, 전문직이 5개 분야(전문직업 및 윤리, 교육, 계리사의 역할 변화, 거버넌스, 혁신)에서 직업이 직면한 과제를 어떻게 준비하고 대응해야 하는지 듣고 배우고 토론하는 것입니다. IAA는 서밋의 결과로 IAA가 5가지 작업 흐름에서 다루어야 할 가장 관련성이 높은 AI 관련 문제를 식별하고 합의하고 권장 조치/다음 단계를 개발할 것으로 기대합니다. AI에 대한 이러한 이니셔티브를 통해 IAA는 AI와 관련된 위험과 기회에 대한 인식을 제고하고 보험계리사를 교육함으로써 AI와 관련된 직업의 역량을 향상시키려고 합니다. 기존 및 신흥 분야에서 보험계리사의 역할을 장려하고 보험계리사의 인지도를 높입니다. AI 관련 위험에 대해 초국가적 조직과 적극적으로 협력하여 AI 관련 이니셔티브에 보험 통계적 관점을 제공합니다. IAA는 최근 전자 투표를 통해 이사회가 인공 지능에 관한 IAA 활동에 대한 의향서(SOI)를 승인했음을 발표하게 된 것을 기쁘게 생각합니다.

Audience: All
Walt served as a great leader across the entire actuarial profession. He was elected President of the Society of Actuaries (1992-1993) and a director of the American Academy of Actuaries. He was closely involved with the establishment of the International Forum of Actuarial Associations (IFAA), and in shaping its governance and membership requirements. He later served as IFAA Chairman (1997-1998) and was the secretary of a committee charged with successfully reconstituting the IAA as the association that we know today.
Walt was a dedicated volunteer in the IFAA, and in the IAA even after his tenure as IFAA Chairman, including serving on several committees, always with a strong emphasis on professionalism and establishing the future of the profession. In 2008, Walt was the primary author of the Decennial Report to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Renewed IAA.
Walt served with the utmost integrity, dedication and passion. His volunteering activities contributed tremendously to the IAA’s mission and to the actuarial profession globally.
Walt’s community service outside of the profession will also be remembered, which you can read outlined in his local newspaper.
We would like to express our sincere condolences to his wife Milly, family, friends and colleagues. May he rest in peace.

IAA Summit on Artificial Intelligence (AI) Audience: All
Singapore 4-5 April 2024 Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an important global topic that is getting increased public attention. The IAA’s Executive Committee approved a statement of Intent for activities on AI in December 2023, to launch initiatives to establish and promote responsible use of AI within the actuarial profession. As an initial step, the IAA will be hosting this Summit in Singapore on 4 and 5 April 2024, to bring together actuaries, and potentially regulators and AI professionals. The key objective of the Summit is to facilitate sharing of knowledge and experience, listen, learn, and discuss how the profession should prepare and respond to the challenges for the profession in five areas (Professionalism and Ethics; Education; Changing Role of Actuaries; Governance; and Innovation). As outcomes from the Summit the IAA expects to identify and agree on the most relevant AI related issues the IAA should address under the five workstreams and develop recommended actions/next steps. Through these initiatives on AI, the IAA is looking to advance the competency of the profession with respect to AI by creating awareness of the risks and opportunities related to AI, and educating actuaries; Promote the role of the actuary in existing and emerging wider fields and raise the profile of the actuary; and Proactively engage with Supranational organizations on AI-related risks to provide actuarial perspectives in their own AI related initiatives. The IAA is pleased to announce that Council has now approved the Statement of Intent (SOI) for IAA Activities on Artificial Intelligence by the recently concluded electronic vote.
Audience: All The IAA is pleased to announce that following the results of its ballot on Marth 8th, the Association pour la Promotion des Sciences Actuarielles (APSA) - Benin was admitted as its 27th Associate Member association. Congratulations!
The APSA, established in December 2013, has a membership comprising 57 members, including 28 members with actuarial credentials, and is currently led by Landri Dégla.
Banking Virtual Forum Webinar – Banking Resilience Risk Management Audience: All
The conventional approach to risk management involved the estimation of loss distributions from which provisions and capital could be allocated to absorb expected and unexpected losses. But what happens if a tail event occurs and the Bank is faced with recapitalising the Institution? Or with winding down the Institution without impacting the domestic real economy, or drawing on tax-payers funds or propagating stress into the bank sector? The answer to these questions can be found within the Recovery and Resolution Planning regulatory framework.
