International Actuaries Day 2023 – Mark your Calendars!

Mark your calendars for International Actuaries Day 2023 #IAD2023! Once again this year, IAA President Micheline Dionne will host a webinar to celebrate the actuarial profession.
Due to September 2nd being on a Saturday this year, we will host our webinar on September 1st at 7:00 AM (EDT). Further details will be released next week – stay tuned.
In the meantime, we encourage you to participate in our video submission (see advert below) for “An Actuary is…?”

The International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) has published consultations on draft revised ICP 14 (Valuation) and ICP 17 (Capital Adequacy).
Comments on draft revised ICP 14, draft revised ICP 14 related terms, draft revised ICP 17 and draft revised ICP 17 related terms are invited by 21 September 2023 24:00 CEST

The IAA intends to submit a formal response to this consultation. The Insurance Regulation Committee (IRC) will be responsible for formulating the response to the IAIS on behalf of the IAA. The response will be developed in accordance with the requirements of the IAA Due Process for Making a Public Statements. All members and observers of the IRC will be requested to provide input to the response. The developing drafts and the final response will be shared with the IRC. Please ensure that your association’s input is provided via your representatives in the IRC. If your association does not have a member or an observer in the IRC, you may nominate an observer to the drafting group to review the developing response. We request you to contact Amali Seneviratne (Director Technical Activities) at the IAA Secretariat as soon as possible, but no later than 15 August 2023 if your association wishes to nominate an observer. Please note that this will be your only opportunity to influence the development of the response, as it will not be circulated outside the IRC. The final response will be submitted to the IAIS on or before 21 September 2023, subject to approval by IRC members.
Pandemics Podcast

As part of the IAA’s Pandemics Task Force workplan, it was intended that they would release a series of related podcast, produced in collaboration with the Society of Actuaries.
In this first released podcast on COVID-19 Data and Modeling hosted by Dale Hall, SOA Managing Director of Research, speaks with Matthew Edwards, Senior Director at Willis Towers Watson, an actuary, and during the pandemic Chair of the UK’s Continuous Mortality Investigation.

The memorandum from Andrew Chamberlain, Chairperson of the Actuarial Standards Committee (ASC) of the IAA, regarding the draft Statements of Intent for ISAP [8] on IFRS S2 Climate-Related Disclosures.
Please distribute this draft Statement of Intent and the comment template widely within your organization, and to any actuarial standard setters and other interested parties in your jurisdiction. We kindly request you to follow the instructions contained in the attached memorandum when submitting comments.
