Council Draft Minutes from the Sydney Hybrid Meeting

Upcoming Council and Committee Meetings

Lisbon, Portugal – November 2023

The IAA is pleased to invite you to the Council and Committee meetings which will take place at the DoubleTree by Hilton Lisbon Fontana Park from 17-21 November 2023. You can now register for the meetings and book your guest room.

For logistical reasons and to ensure a smooth registration process, please carefully review the information on the Lisbon Meeting website below before you register.

Please note that due to recently scheduled major renovations, the Secretariat has had to change hotels and adjust the meeting dates to 20-24 May 2023 (instead of the dates mentioned in the Council minutes from Sydney)

Notice of Public Submission - IAIS Consultation on a New Stakeholder Engagement and Consultation Policy

Audience: Council Delegates

The International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) is consulting on the creation of a new Stakeholder Engagement and Consultation Policy (SECP). The proposed policy consolidates and replaces both the Stakeholder Engagement Plan (SEP) and Policy for Consultation of Stakeholders (PCS). Comments are invited by 20 August 2023 24:00 (CEST). The IAA intends to submit a formal response to this consultation. The Insurance Regulation Committee (IRC) will be responsible for formulating the response to the IAIS on behalf of the IAA.  The response will be developed in accordance with the requirements of the IAA Due Process for Making a Public Statements.

All members and observers of the IRC will be requested to provide input to the response. The developing drafts and the final response will be shared with the IRC. Please ensure that your association’s input is provided via your representatives in the IRC. 

If your association does not have a member or an observer in the IRC, you may nominate an observer to the drafting group to review the developing response. We request you to contact Amali Seneviratne (Director Technical Activities) at the IAA Secretariat as soon as possible, but no later than 30 July 2023 if your association wishes to nominate an observer.  Please note that this will be your only opportunity to influence the development of the response, as it will not be circulated outside the IRC.

The final response will be submitted to the IAIS on or before 20 August 2023, subject to approval by IRC members.

Tier 3 FMA Online Community

Audience: Tier 3 FMA Delegates

At the most recent Tier 3 FMA meeting in Sydney, attendees expressed an interest to work on institutional capacity building, to share experiences and best practices. We are pleased to announce that we've established a group for Tier 3 FMAs (Associations with less than 750 members) as part of our IAA online community.

If you are interested in joining, please visit https://community.actuaries.org/ select the "Tier 3 FMA" group and submit a request to join.
